Bio
Hello, I am Eva, and I am pleased to introduce myself to you. I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I received both my bachelor’s in psychology (with distinction) and my master’s in counselling (applied psychology) from the University of Lethbridge. I have worked as an educator, a volunteer, as support for individuals experiencing domestic violence and have been counselling individuals and for the last 5 years.
I am fascinated with how our brains work and how they direct and influence our thoughts, emotions, body sensations and behaviours. I have seen how slowing things down, being curious and taking a pause can give us the opportunity to explore our reactions, calm our nervous systems, and choose a more effective way to respond. These new responses, though they might be small in nature, can create large and powerful changes in our daily lives. I believe in everyone’s ability to learn this pause, create positive change and thrive.
I commit to accept you as you are and where you are in your life, respect your personal values, and collaborate with you on your goals for growth. My goal is to create a calm, welcoming and open space to connect with my clients. In our work together, I draw from counselling styles including, Solution-focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), expressive arts, play therapy, and somatic based therapy. I am continually adding to my training to increase my effectiveness in working with, individuals (12 +), couples, and groups.
I have Level 3 training in AF-EMDR with the Parnell Institute, have completed specific training in working with trauma and have level 2 training with Gottman Couple Therapy. My interests include ADHD, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction recovery, family distress, marital conflict, relationship and identity issues, chronic illness, menopause, and faith crises.
When not at work you can find me enjoying my family, gardening, hiking, photography, reading, music, camping and motorcycling.
